Mat, Mat/TRX Classes
     The Pilates mat work is a full body workout performed on our specially designed Pilates mats.  Although no particular equipment is required for the exercises, the instructors at Pilates of New Paltz may include "props" such as the Pilates "Magic Circle", theraband, bio-foam roller, small and large balls,small Pilates barrels, free weights, and/or a weighted bar.
     The mat work consists of a series of simple, beautifully designed exercises that systematically warm up the body from the deepest core muscles on to all muscles of the extremities.  Periodic stretching, balance, and control movements are included.
     Our experienced teaching staff will lead the class through each exercise, ensuring that every participant is performing in a correct and safe way and getting the full benefit of the session.

 We offer a flexible schedule of Pilates Mat classes throughout the week.  Class size is limited to maintain our high quality of instruction.

 TRX stands for Total Resistance eXercise.  We use straps attached to an anchor point to add both a support and an extra challenge. Our TRX/mat classes blend traditional pilates mat work with this newer innovative system to create an amazing full body workout experience.

Reformer Classes
     The Universal Reformer is the name that Joseph Pilates gave to the main piece of apparatus that he developed to complement his mat work series.  It is an ingenious design meant to provide both added support and added leveraging, increasing the potential for more stretching, strengthening, and balancing challenges.  For the beginning student this will mean that the body is in a more controlled position so as to better isolate and encourage healthier movement patterns.
     Participants work against spring resistance which is graded, based on individual strengths and the exercise itself.  Our staff can provide each person with a full body exercise experience using the reformer as the main tool in the 55 minute session.

      Reformer class scheduling is at the discretion of the instructors.  We are careful of class placement in order to provide optimum safety and challenge all participants. 

Tower Classes

    Tower classes are an opportunity for participants to expand the mat work with the use of the Pilates equipment.  Each mat will have a wall unit that  provides an outside lever to add another dimension to the program.  Such equipment includes the leg and arm springs, the roll down bar, and the push thru bar.

    Because of Pilates of New Paltz’s commitment to the highest quality of teaching, class size is limited in all of our sessions.  The tower class maximum is 6 participants.
