Strengthening


Strengthening:  The Pilates Method as practiced at Pilates of New Paltz uses various methods to target and strengthen muscles as needed, based on our instructor's evaluation of individual needs.  Common issues include core strength, so time is spent teaching the recruitment of the muscle groups involved.  Exercises are gradually intensified as clients strengthen and function better.

            General strengthening of the entire body is a basic goal as well, and in a typical session every muscle group will be addressed.  This leads  to better balance, stability, and posture.   Combined with specific, targeted stretching, clients finish sessions energized, refreshed ,feeling stronger and walking taller.
